Most newcomers know a few musicians to come out of Birmingham. That's because our city has had so much recent success on American Idol-Ruben Studdard, Bo Bice, and Taylor Hicks all got their start here. Birmingham has a wonderful pool of local artists who write and perform their own original music. Of course if you want to have a little fun with an 80s or 90s cover band we have that too. So discover something new and go have some fun!
Most locals consult one of our local cultural newspapers for what's going on in the music scene each week. Either the Birmingham Weekly or the Black and White. These are the most up to date listings and also offer articles on local musicians. Most of the time only the artist's name is listed so if you want to know what they sound like you can usually find them on MySpace.
